The two companies announced this today, Wednesday, at a press conference. There was no information on the purchase price, the transaction is still subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities, it said.
Quehenberger Logistics turned over 648 million euros last year with around 5,000 employees. In Upper Austria, the logistics company has locations in Eberstalzell, Enns, Leonding and Wels.
As a result of the takeover, the Geis Group has grown to around 10,000 employees and annual sales of two billion euros. The Germans take over 66 percent of Quehenberger. 34 percent will remain with the previous majority owner and managing director Christian Fürstaller.
Rudi Quehenberger, Rodolphe Schoettel and Günter Thiel sold their shares in full. As head of Quehenberger Logistics, Fürstaller will continue the business in the existing organizational form and with all employees, it was said at the press conference.
