Stock exchange in Frankfurt: Dax recovers before US interest rate decision

Before the key interest rate decisions in the USA on Wednesday evening and in the euro area on Thursday, the mood on the German stock market has brightened again somewhat. In the afternoon, the Dax rose by 0.51 percent to 15,806.87 points. Most of the major stock exchanges in Europe also posted gains. The MDax of medium-sized stocks fell by 0.66 percent to 27,273.83 points.

On the company side, Deutsche Post and the sports car manufacturer Porsche AG attracted interest in the Dax due to their quarterly reports. Post shares gained 1.1 percent. The papers of Porsche AG fell by 0.6 percent. As Jefferies analyst Philippe Houchois commented, the quarter had been somewhat weak in terms of operating income and cash.

Lufthansa delivered “mixed numbers”, as one broker said. The outlook has been maintained, although the airline plans to lower the cost of kerosene. Shares fell 3.0 percent.

The shares of the software provider Teamviewer in particular came under pressure. The minus amounted to 11.5 percent in the afternoon. On the other hand, Elmos Semiconductor with plus 5.8 percent and Auto1 with plus 4.9 percent were among the favorites in the SDax. Chip stock benefited from analyst commentary.

The exchange rate of the euro increased. The shared currency was trading at $1.1035 in the afternoon. The ECB last set the reference rate at $1.0965 on Tuesday. On the bond market, the current yield fell from 2.38 percent on the previous day to 2.26 percent. The Rex pension index rose by 0.55 percent to 126.33 points. The Bund future gained 0.04 percent to 136.32 points.
