What type of credits are businesses looking for and what do they use them for?

According to the latest survey carried out by Mercado Pago/Invecq, four out of ten SME businesses seek financing to boost their businesses, mainly to face investments in infrastructure and purchase of merchandise.

In its second installment, the monthly report “Perspectiva de Comercio PyME” of Mercado Pago/Invecq revealed that at this time four out of ten SME businesses seek financing to face investments in infrastructure and purchase of merchandise. Among the most requested options is take both long-term and short-term loans, 77% and 39% respectively.

“It is interesting to note that the proportion of businesses seeking financing for payment to suppliers is very low, which indicates that they would not be experiencing immediate liquidity problems. Regarding the sources of financing, Respondents identified fintechs in first place (42%) and private banks in second place (30%)”, he analyzed Santiago Bulat, Director of Invecq.

“We see a growing interest in SME businesses in short-term loans to meet your cash needs. In this context, they find in fintechs such as Mercado Pago an opportunity to access money quickly, easily and transparently, 100% digital. This is a service that is increasingly valued by businesses,” added Agustín Viola, Senior Director of SMEs at Mercado Pago.

Consulted about interoperability, that is, about the possibility of charging with the same QR to different wallets, 75% of SME businesses responded knowing that the modality is already available and operational. In this sense, 96.1% declare that since interoperability began their sales with QR have been maintained or increased. The two main reasons why businesses choose to charge with a QR code are: “customers ask for it” and “it is a quick and easy method”.
