The Finnish food delivery service Wolt continues to expand in Europe. The company has also been offering its services in Germany since the beginning of the week, as “Standard” and “Presse” reported on Thursday. Wolt will initially start in Vienna, but the offer is to be gradually expanded to the whole country in the future, said Country Manager of Wolt Austria, Clemens Brugger, in an interview with the two newspapers.
Wolt was founded in Helsinki in 2014 and has since expanded into Europe and Asia. In 2021, the company was taken over by the US delivery service DoorDash for 7 billion euros. With the entry into Vienna, Austria is already the 25th country in which the couriers of the delivery service, dressed in blue outfits, will be active. The delivery services Foodora (formerly Mjam) and Lieferando are established on the domestic market. After a boom in the 2020/21 corona pandemic, the industry is now struggling with less demand.
In a mailing, Wolt advertises a guaranteed delivery within 30 minutes. Goods from shops in the area, food from restaurants and other goods such as flowers can be ordered via the app.
