There is currently a lot of debate about working hours. The powerful IG Metall trade union is campaigning for a four-day week with full wage compensation, and many in the SPD are also in favor of it. The employer side thinks less of it. On the contrary, some even think that we have to work more instead of less to compensate for the growing shortage of skilled workers. And many economists believe that neither a rigid five-day nor a four-day week makes sense, but rather flexible working time models that allow employees to better balance work and life.
