This is reported by the “Bild” newspaper, citing a draft for the amendment to the “Ecodesign Directive”, which could be decided in the next few months. Among other things, it stipulates that newly installed heating systems should have at least “115 percent efficiency”.
Heaters that did not achieve this goal should no longer be offered on the market. According to experts, oil and gas heaters are ruled out because their efficiency is less than 100 percent. The EU Commission declined to comment when asked by the newspaper.
