Activity in car dealerships fell 70% after the devaluation applied on August 14, after the primary elections. This was indicated by Alejandro Lamas, secretary of the Automotive Chamber of Commerce.

Despite this drop, in August 162,403 were sold used vehicles, which represented an increase of 12.99% compared to the same month in 2022 (143,726 units). If compared to July (154,367 vehicles), the growth was 5.21%.

In the first eight months of the year, 1,114,700 used vehicles were sold, an increase of 3.95% compared to the same period in 2022 (1,072,343 units).

“August’s growth in all variables has a before and after the devaluation. Before, the sector had been experiencing ups and downs: one month it went up and another it went down. Suddenly we found ourselves with a market that, although it is not paralyzed, both the consultations and the operations fell 70%“Lamas said.
