The summer period begins and the myth that during this time “everything is stopped” deserves clarification: for various reasons there are more searches and there are sectors that increase their productivity levels in that period. It is worth paying attention: for those looking for the long-awaited first job or extra income, temporary summer jobs, which sometimes do not require prior experience, are the most efficient option.
For Carlos Contino, managing partner of CONA RH, in the 2024 season it is expected that there will be continuity in terms of the demand for workers. “Domestic tourism activities and related services will be the main activity that will demand temporary personnel, as indicated by first indications due to the high level of air and hotel reservations,” says the consultant. But he adds that “there is a plus: a high dollar and an Argentine peso that has dropped to historic levels means that the hotel, lodging, and land and air transportation sectors are at their best.”
Diego Ortega, director at Pullmen, complements the data by stating that the industrial sector, despite the problem due to imports, “will continue to demand workers for different industries, especially for vacation relief.” And he emphasizes that he also sees a “growing demand for positions linked to customer service in tourist places and in derived services such as the retail segment.”
The latter is expanded by Contino for whom “the commerce in all retail activity is scheduling promotions with demand for temporary staff similar to the 2022/3 season: gastronomy and shows, is one of the highlights and is followed by customer support and call center ”.

These short-term jobs are ideal for starting a professional career or returning from a period of inactivity and can also be the gateway to multinationals and renowned companies. And, in turn, it is worth considering that according to activity data, 1 in 4 workers who enter as temporary workers are incorporated as permanent workers after the assignment ends. This is little-disclosed information, but very relevant for the worker who enters as a temporary worker.
