The high inflation is not affecting Austrians’ ordering mood. This year, 351.5 million parcels are expected to be delivered in this country, an increase of 8.4 percent year-on-year, the regulatory authority RTR predicted on Tuesday. In the second quarter of 2023, a total of around 94.2 million parcels were transported, 87.0 million were delivered in Austria, 7.2 million were transported abroad – an increase of 12 percent.

RTR boss Klaus M. Steinmaurer is also observing an increase in the number of employees as the number of parcels increases. “This year, significantly more leasing staff were employed than in the previous year. Our data series suggest that there will be a short-term hype for leasing staff again in the fourth quarter of 2023. We expect there to be more than 2,000 leasing staff here, which is around 50 percent more than in the 1st or 2nd quarter of 2023,” said Steinmaurer.
