The tax assistant apprenticeship is varied, exciting and in demand
A good job is interesting, you work in an exciting environment, get good training and also have the opportunity to earn well. Preferably in an area that deals with needs or necessities that people always have, regardless of whether the economy is doing well or we are in a crisis: money and taxes, for example. Training and a job in the tax consulting industry are the best prerequisites for a successful future.
What jobs are there for a tax advisor or auditor and how does the training take place – do you have to study?
There are numerous professions in this area: tax assistant, personnel accountant, (balance sheet) accountant, tax consultant, auditor, and much more. In order to be able to practice these, you don’t always have to complete a degree.
Training to become a tax assistant takes place as part of a 3-year apprenticeship. Depending on your professional experience and courses, you can also do further training, for example as a personnel accountant or (balance sheet) accountant. With a completed degree you can also become a tax advisor or auditor.
Where can you work as a tax assistant?
After completing compulsory schooling, the apprenticeship training to become a tax assistant takes place in the office of a tax advisor or auditor or in the tax administration. After completing your apprenticeship, all doors in a law firm, in public administration or at a company are open.
Is that exciting?
Oh yeah! Working for a tax advisor is an exciting, varied and exciting job. Of course it has to do with numbers, but these numbers represent companies and the people who work there.
Easy entry into a crisis-proof job
The “tax assistant” apprenticeship has only existed since 2011. It was developed jointly by the Chamber of Tax Consultants and Auditors and the Federal Ministry of Finance, as there is great demand in this area in both the private sector and the federal administration.
Entry into the tax assistant apprenticeship is open to anyone who has completed compulsory school, and is also possible after attending a secondary school such as AHS, HAS or HAK.
Since 2017, all apprentices in Upper Austria have been trained at the Rohrbach vocational school, 10 weeks per apprenticeship year. There are no costs for the apprentice to attend vocational school or boarding school. KSW OÖ, together with BS Rohrbach, offers a free preparation course for the written and oral final apprenticeship examination.
