From 11 p.m. to midnight, the cover band “Hoamspü” will warm up the guests of the Gala Night of Sports with Austropop: The band’s founder is Walter Bostelmann, CEO of Kellner & Kunz in Wels. The 52-year-old is looking forward to the performance: “’Long Live Sport’ will of course also be played, that shouldn’t be missed,” says the Welser. Visitors can look forward to interpretations of the classics from Wolfgang Ambros and Reinhard Fendrich to Georg Danzer, STS and Falco.
“Hoamspü” is Bostelmann’s third band; he founded it 15 years ago. He is one of the three singers; a total of eight musicians and three technicians make up the team. Bostelmann also plays piano, organ and keyboard. Music was always his great passion; at the age of 16, Bostelmann began performing as a musician at weddings and festivals.
He remained true to this hobby despite his career advancement: Bostelmann began an apprenticeship at Kellner & Kunz in 1986 and joined the board in 2010. Since 2021 he has led the wholesaler of tools and screws as chairman of the board. Due to time constraints, the band’s rehearsals usually take place on weekends; around ten concerts are usually played per year.
The married father of two children is also active in sports: skiing, running and mountain biking are among his hobbies. He follows major sporting events on television. Are there parallels between professional life and top-class sport? “It doesn’t work without going the extra mile. But every career also requires a bit of luck,” he says. He is particularly excited about the European Football Championship this year. This certainly also applies to national team coach Ralf Rangnick, who is a guest at the gala, as is ski legend Franz Bracket.
