Warning strike: Lufthansa warns: Don’t come to the airport on Wednesday

Things are looking bad for passengers who have booked a Lufthansa flight for Wednesday. If the flight has already been canceled, it’s not worth coming to the airport to rebook.

During the warning strike by ground staff planned for Wednesday, passengers on canceled Lufthansa flights should under no circumstances come to the airport. “Due to the strike, the rebooking counters are unfortunately not staffed,” the airline writes on its website. Free rebooking options are available via lufthansa.com, the customer app and the service center. Tickets for domestic flights could be converted into vouchers for train journeys.

The Verdi union has called on the ground staff of various Lufthansa companies to go on a warning strike from 4 a.m. on Wednesday until Thursday morning. The Lufthansa core company expects that 80 to 90 percent of its flights planned for Wednesday will be canceled. The flight plan already contains the first cancellations to the Far East from Frankfurt and Munich for late Tuesday evening. The company spoke of more than 100,000 affected passengers who will have to change their plans.

The Lufthansa locations in Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin and Düsseldorf are on strike. The impact on flights of other airlines within and outside the Lufthansa Group is still unclear.
