Car manufacturer: Mercedes-Benz is recalling around 261,000 SUVs worldwide

Recall at Mercedes-Benz: The SUV models GLE and GLS are affected again. After last week’s recall due to a possible fire hazard, there is now another reason.

Mercedes-Benz has recalled around 261,000 vehicles worldwide due to a software error. The SUV models GLE and GLS from the years 2018 to 2023 are affected, as can be seen from a recall published in the database of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). In Germany, almost 4,400 vehicles are affected.

A software error in the transmission control unit could lead to engine failure, increasing the risk of an accident, the recall said. When asked, a spokesman for the Stuttgart car manufacturer said that the matter had no impact on the vehicle’s steering and braking systems. Mercedes-Benz is not aware of any damage to property or persons in this regard. As a precautionary measure, the software in the affected vehicles will be updated.

Just last week, the KBA published a Mercedes recall of around 341,000 GLE and GLS models worldwide due to a possible fire risk.
