The master craftsman should no longer cost anything in Hesse in the future: the state is now presenting a plan to make dual training occupations more attractive. There, too, there is a shortage of trainees and skilled workers everywhere.
Pursuing your master’s degree can be very expensive. In the future, master training will be free of charge for participants in Hesse. Economics Minister Kaweh Mansoori (SPD) wants to present the free master’s certificate in Frankfurt this Wednesday (12.30 p.m.). “While the master’s degree is free, trainees previously had to pay for the master’s training and examination,” the ministry announced in advance. The free master training is intended to create equivalence between vocational and academic education.
Costs for the master often reach five figures
Master training costs between 7,000 euros and 17,000 euros, says the President of the Frankfurt-Rhine-Main Chamber of Crafts, Susanne Haus. A large part of the costs have already been covered by the federal master BAföG. There is also a recognition bonus from the state of 1,000 euros, which does not offset all costs.
Mansoori’s predecessor, Tarek Al-Wazir (Greens), announced the free master’s certificate in October last year. The project is now to be implemented as part of the black-red state government’s immediate program “11+1 for Hesse”.
