Defense: Rheinmetall supplies 1,500 military trucks to the Bundeswehr

The German army is ordering more trucks from a framework agreement with Rheinmetall. The contract is worth almost one billion euros.

Rheinmetall plans to deliver a further 1,515 military trucks to the German army by November. The order is worth 920 million euros, the Düsseldorf-based defense company announced. This is a call-off from the framework agreement signed in June 2020 for the delivery of a total of up to 4,000 trucks with a so-called swap loader system. The trucks can, among other things, load flatbeds on which ammunition, fuel or water are transported. The vehicles are to be delivered in the second half of 2024 by mid-November 2024.

Rheinmetall further announced that some of the trucks will have an armored cabin as a protected variant. This will “significantly increase the survivability and sustainability as well as the tactical flexibility of the logistics units and associations.”
