A Russian missile attack on President Zelensky’s hometown leaves many civilians dead. The head of state reacts promptly.
At least eight people were killed in a Russian missile attack on the southern Ukrainian industrial city of Kryvyi Rih. More than 20 others were injured, local media reported on Wednesday. “Every day and every hour, Russian terror proves that Ukraine must strengthen its air defenses together with its partners,” wrote President Volodymyr Zelensky on social networks. He expressed his condolences to the victims’ families. His country needs modern air defenses to provide the greatest possible protection for its people. Kryvyi Rih is Zelensky’s birthplace.
Ukraine has been fending off a Russian invasion for over two years. Russia has repeatedly shelled cities in the hinterland. At the reconstruction summit in Berlin, Zelensky recently pushed for new deliveries of modern Patriot air defense systems from Western partners.
