The Ministry of Economy now has control of the Council of the Trust Fund for Social Housing

He Ministry of Economy commanded by Luis Caputo became in control of the trust fund for social housing. The decision was confirmed in the Official Gazette through Resolution 450/2024, published this Tuesday in the Official Gazette.

It provides that the Board of Directors of the Trust Fund for Social Housingwill be made up of the heads of the Secretariat of Territorial Development, Habitat and Housing, the Undersecretariat of Habitat and Housing and the National Directorate of Housing Plans, Urban Infrastructure and Rebuild Programs, all of them from the Ministry of Economy, who will perform their functions on an “ad honorem” basis. In turn, members may designate an alternate holder and a substitute to represent them, the regulations clarify.

The changes suffered by the Trust Fund for Social Housing

The FFVS operated previously, years ago, in the area of ​​the then Secretariat of Housing and Habitat of the then Ministry of the Interior, Public Works and Housing, “with the aim of financing current social housing and basic infrastructure programs, with public, private and international, multilateral or trilateral organization funds.” This portfolio controlled the formation and functions of the Council.

In December of last year, with the ministerial restructuring that Javier Milei ordered when he assumed the Presidency, the (now former) Ministry of Infrastructure which absorbed commitments and obligations that depended on the former Territorial Development and Habitat portfolio, among others, being considered transferred “the budgetary credits, organizational units, assets, personnel with their positions and endowments in force to date, until the corresponding structures were approved.” ”.

In February, The Government abolished the Ministry of Infrastructure and Economy and became in charge of its functions.

Who will be the new owners of the FFVS?

According to the resolution, the Presidency of the Board of Directors of the Trust Fund for Social Housing will be exercised by the head of the Undersecretariat of Habitat and Housing and the Vice Presidency, by the head of the Secretariat of Territorial Development, Habitat and Housing. They are: Sebastian Sanchez Sorondo and Rodrigo Aybar Perlenderrespectively.
