Due to construction work: Night train between Berlin and Paris cancelled for weeks

In Germany and also in France, a lot of construction work will be done on the rail network in the coming months – with noticeable consequences for night train traffic.

The night trains from Berlin to Paris and Brussels will be cancelled from mid-August to the end of October due to construction work on the rail network in Germany and France. The same applies to the night connection between Vienna and Paris, as the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) announced. Accordingly, the three connections will be cancelled from August 12 to October 25.

“In order to avoid unexpected train cancellations, delays and inconveniences for our customers, we unfortunately have to temporarily suspend operations on some Nightjet lines. No tickets have yet been sold for the affected trains,” said ÖBB.

The night connections between Berlin and Paris were only added to the night train program in December. The journey to Paris takes around 14 hours and goes via Halle (Saale), Erfurt and Mannheim. The train is split en route to enable a connection to Brussels.

Originally, three trips per week from Berlin to Paris were planned. Recently, however, fewer connections have been offered.
