The update in Values that will be reflected at the pumps starting July 1responds to the partial increase in the tax on liquid fuels (ICL) and carbon dioxide (IDC) of just 1%, together with the monthly devaluation of 2% of the dollar and the latest adjustment in the price of biofuels authorized by the Ministry of Energy.
Following the above-mentioned increases, Gasoline and diesel will have a variation in prices of between 3% and 4% starting tomorrowas confirmed by sources from an oil company to Noticias Argentinas.
Gasoline and diesel prices go up: how much will a liter of fuel cost starting in July?
With this increase, super gasoline will go from $905 to around $941 per liter in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA), while diesel will rise from $941 to around $980 per liter.
At the end of last week, The Government decided to postpone a major update of taxes on fuels to avoid a higher impact on inflation, as was established for energy rates.
This way, The government measure prevented a 115% adjustment in the tax burden on gasoline and diesel from being applied, which would have resulted in an 18% increase at the pumps.according to private estimates.
This is not the first postponement ordered by the Executive, since it had suspended the adjustment in May using the same argument, which was finally partially applied in June.
Thus, the tax update schedule set at the beginning of the year registers increases in February, March, April and June, to catch up with the increases postponed from the first quarter of 2021.
In this regard, the Secretary of Energy, Eduardo Rodriguez Chirillo, reported that heThe 7% update rose to 26%, an increase equivalent to $140 per liter of gasoline, and an impact of US$3 billion per year. From January to June, fuel prices accumulate an average increase of 63.65%.
Amidst the aforementioned updates, the consultancy Politician Chaco revealed based on data from Energy that “During the month of May 2024, the scenario of a drop in fuel sales to the public throughout the country is confirmed”indicating that “about 1,406,758 cubic meters of fuel were sold to the public, including gasoline and diesel.”
In this regard, he stated that “compared to May 2023, fuel sales showed a decline of 8%, being the sixth consecutive month with declines; however, compared to the previous month (April 2024) sales showed some rebound (+8.5%).”
