The discussion about compulsory natural hazard insurance is underway again. It would help homeowners enormously, but insurers are blocking it with strange arguments.
Crazy idea, but maybe politicians should focus on the people who are actually affected by a problem instead of constantly listening to lobby groups who like to play down such problems. For example, on the question of whether homeowners should be required to take out insurance against heavy rain and flood disasters. Currently, only around half of residential buildings are financially insured against this.
