The UIA reported a 14.3% year-on-year drop in activity

Following a meeting of its Board of Directors, the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) The Ministry of Economy and Finance expressed concern about the decline in activity, the increase in production costs and how the economic context is affecting the productive sector. According to reports, the sector’s activity fell by 1.5% 14.3% year-on-year.

In a statement, they also stressed the need to promote an agenda of measures that help recover the dynamics of the domestic market, focusing on the development of local production, consumption, formal employment and promoting exports with added value.

During the meeting, sector and regional representatives also analyzed the treatment of the SME bill in the House of Representatives committee. The initiative was presented by the institution and seeks to strengthen the assets of the sector.

Among the six central points of the project are the tax simplificationthe creation of a SME investment incentive scheme industrial complementary to the RIGIthe automatic update of categorization parametersthe tools for the internationalization of companiessimplifying the creation of new companies and access to financing.

The UIA Research Center (CEU) presented the industrial activity indicators for the month of May. The survey shows a fall in the 14.3% year-on-year and of the 0.6% compared to the previous monthwhich had a lower level of demand and an increase in costs in some sectors.

On the other hand, they warned that the decline in registered salaried employment in the sector also accelerated: 5,074 jobs were lost in May and there is a cumulative drop of 21,285 compared to August 2023.

UIA authorities met with the head of AFIP

In turn, the UIA authorities received the head of the Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP), Florencia Misrahi, with whom they discussed the current state of the tax system, the importance of the industry for the formal economy and the administration’s agenda for the coming months.

At this meeting, the president of the UIA tax policy department, Carlos Abeledo, presented to Misrahi the tax proposals contained in the White Paper. The UIA initiatives propose a set of tax incentives focused on the productive investmentas well as a comprehensive approach to tax simplification.
