Rail travelers in Hesse have been put to the test of patience: a damage to the overhead line made an important route impassable.
A defective overhead line near Gelnhausen (Main-Kinzig district) has led to train cancellations and delays in Hesse. Regional and long-distance traffic were affected by the disruption. As Deutsche Bahn announced on Friday afternoon, the overhead line has now been repaired. However, it will still take some time before the trains are running as scheduled again. It is not yet possible to say how many passengers were affected by the disruption.
According to the railway, there were train cancellations and delays between Fulda and Frankfurt and between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden. In long-distance traffic, ICE trains between Berlin and Frankfurt and between Kassel, Fulda and Frankfurt were affected.
In some places, rail replacement services were set up. The railway asked all travellers to find out about their connection before travelling on bahn.de, in the DB Navigator or by calling the travel information line +49 30 2970.
