In the middle of the summer travel season, fuel prices are falling. Diesel is cheaper than it has been for over a year.
Diesel is cheaper than it has been for a good year. The price of the fuel has fallen by 1.9 cents within a week, according to the ADAC. The nationwide daily average on Tuesday showed that the fuel cost 1.607 euros per liter. It was last cheaper at the beginning of July 2023. Premium gasoline of the E10 variety also fell by 1.9 cents. At an average of 1.734 euros per liter, it fell to its lowest level since February 6 of this year.
The two types of fuel are thus continuing the downward trend of recent months after their prices had stagnated in the past week. The ADAC sees the recent fall in the price of crude oil as the main driver of the decline. However, the ADAC is uncertain whether the price will remain at this favorable level for motorists. A possible escalation of the situation in the Middle East could quickly drive the price of crude oil and thus also of fuel up again, it said.
