The number of registered salaried jobs has declined for the ninth consecutive month. The decline has accelerated among state employees and domestic workers.

Employment fell for the ninth consecutive month in May, reaching its worst level since April last year. Thus, during Javier Milei’s government, more than 175,000 formal salaried jobs have already been lost.

According to data from the Argentine Integrated Pension System (SIPA) published by the Ministry of Labor on Monday, in the fifth month of May the sum of salaried employees in the private sector, plus salaried employees in the State and domestic workers gave a total of 10.1 million employees, 20,300 less than the previous month.

The decline was explained by a loss of 9,100 jobs in the private sector, 8,800 in the public sector and 2,400 among domestic workers. In percentage terms, the job loss was greater in the last two segments, given that the total number of workers is considerably lower than in the private sector.
