After a day of strike, the College of Interventional Cardiologists of Argentina They lifted the strike after announcing: “After starting a dialogue table with health providerswe decided on this date to suspend the monitor blackout. We wish to state that “urgent or emergency situations were never left unattended during this period.”

So, the placement of stents and angioplasties was normalized throughout the national territory.

What was the cardiologists’ claim?

The claim was based on obtaining a response from the prepaid social works and PAMI and they asked the Government to “urgently intervene by calling for dialogue to resolve this conflict.”

Nucleated in the College of Interventional Cardiology, The doctors had decided that during those days “only emergencies will be attended to so as not to let the most seriously ill patients die,” they had said in a statement.

“This situation is already causing social works and prepaids “They are increasingly delaying the delivery of these drugs, which exposes patients to a greater risk due to the delay in the time of their treatment,” they stressed.

In this context, doctors had warned that with their practices, every year in Argentina they are saved 200,000 lives approximately, and that if the current situation persists, its activity will literally “disappear”.

“It is worrying that, as happened during the pandemiccardiovascular mortality may increase because the current crisis is inexorably leading to the collapse of the specialty, and although at this time the supplies are still available, they cannot be used due to the collapse of the specialty. This is due to multiple factors among which the gap between the cost of supplies, equipment maintenance, hospitalizations and the amounts paid by the financiers could be highlighted, to which must be added that the fees (income) of interventional cardiologists continue to fall (adjustment variable)”, they had stressed.
