The measure includes preventive actions in all neighborhoods. Training has begun for municipal agents and neighbors who will later be multipliers of the information.

Within the framework of the Comprehensive Plan to Address Dengue, just a few days before the beginning of spring, The Municipality of San Isidro launched a new program for the prevention of this disease. It’s about training “Bye Mosquito” is coordinated by the EDUPAS Foundation, in conjunction with Johnson&Johnson. The program includes workshops to train and provide tools to municipal agents, school personnel, neighborhood leaders and residents who will then be multipliers of information in order to prevent, mitigate and raise awareness about dengue.

“It is very important to be able to prepare and anticipate the new summer season. We have the opportunity to do things in a planned and comprehensive way to be effective in the fight against dengue,” The Mayor said Ramon Lanuswho participated in the first of the training sessions.

“Last summer, the Municipality of San Isidro carried out fumigation operations in parks, squares and places with high concentrations of mosquitoes to stop the proliferation of mosquitoes, and this summer we are committed to redoubling our efforts,” he added.

The objective of the “Bye Mosquito” campaign is to raise awareness about diseases transmitted by Aedes aegypti (dengue, zika, chikungunya and yellow fever); promote community actions for prevention; and train and support community multipliers and local teams to strengthen prevention strategies and actions.

The first training session was held this morning at the “9 de Julio” Development Society in Boulogne. The participants included staff from public and private schools in the district, members of the nursing school, representatives of neighborhood organizations and delegates, among other actors. They received information about dengue (mosquito habits and preferences, eradication of breeding sites inside and outside homes, forms of transmission, symptoms, how to protect oneself from the bite, community actions for prevention) so that they can then take it to their workplaces and thus help prevent this disease. They were also provided with educational material that they can use to carry out didactic training.

In addition, as part of the action plan carried out by the Municipality to prevent the proliferation of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, fumigation operations are carried out in public spaces in the district, which are reinforced during periods of higher temperatures. De-cluttering tasks are also carried out.

The EDUPAS Foundation works in conjunction with government agencies and civil society organizations to implement prevention strategies and actions. They have already carried out more than seven thousand training sessions in northern Argentina and in neighboring countries.
