The new regulations provided for the expansion of “the tariff collection system established by the Decree No. 84 of February 4, 2009 and its amendments to other means of payment that allow interoperability for access to all public transport services such as automotive, surface and underground rail, river passenger and cableway services.”
In this way, they seek to promote the “use of technologies that allow wireless, secure and agile communication between the payment device and the collection terminals in public passenger transport”, by adding the ability to accept any contactless electronic payment method.

They specified that “in the next monthswith the corresponding progress of the implementation of this measure, the conditions and characteristics of the opening of the system will be announced and the stages in which all modes of transport throughout the country will be achieved will be established.”
Regarding the time it will take to implement this new modality, they indicated that “in a first stage scheduled for September or October, a bus test will be launched in two towns in the interior of the country, and in one second stagebetween October and November, the adaptation of the turnstiles on the Urquiza train and in the CABA subways will be carried out.”
What will happen to the SUBE card?
It will continue to work as always, only now it will be another option for paying for transportation. SUBE system will continue to play a key role in supervising the services provided by bus companies and the expenses they incur, in addition to being a tool which allows subsidizing demand for public transport.

What payment methods will be available to pay for public transport?
