The CEO of Banco Macro resigned and will occupy the same position at Banco Supervielle

Two cross communications sent today to the National Securities Commission reported a surprise pass in the Argentine financial system: The CEO of Banco Macro resigned to take up the same position at Banco Supervielle.

In just three lines, the Macro – whose president is Jorge Brito – communicated: “We are writing to you in order to communicate that today Mr. Gustavo Manriquez has notified his resignation to the position of General Manager, thanking him for the trust placed in him over the years in which he held that position.”

At the same time, Supervielle informed investors of the name of the new CEO who will take over from Alejandro Stengel when the current month ends: “Banco Supervielle SA (“Supervielle” or the “Bank”), announces today that has appointed Gustavo Manriquez as its CEO effective October 1, 2024.”

More eloquent than the Macro statement, the Supervielle communication added: “Until the date of his appointment as CEO of Banco Supervielle and since 2016, Gustavo served as CEO and General Manager of Banco Macro. During that period positioned the bank as one of the main private franchises in the country and developed the digital strategy which allowed us to redefine the value proposition for all of the bank’s customer segments.”

“Gustavo has more than 30 years of experience in the Argentine financial system, occupying different executive positions and implementing growth strategies, strategic alliances and innovative digital solutions throughout his career. Previously, he was Head of Retail & SMEs at Scotiabank Uruguay. Previously, Gustavo had an extensive career at Citibank both in Argentina and abroad.”

Gustavo Manriquez holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Belgrano with a postgraduate degree in Finance from CEMA, Center for Macroeconomic Studies. He also completed the Management Development Program at the Institute of Advanced Business Studies (IAE) and also holds an MBA from IAE.

The official communication also included statements from Manriquez on his new challenge as CEO of Banco Supervielle: “It is an honour to assume the responsibility of leading Banco Supervielle in this new stage of its history. I am committed to continue to drive innovation and growth that characterize this institution, working alongside the team to continue providing financial solutions that support the development of our clients and the communities in which we operate. I firmly believe in Argentina’s potential and in Banco Supervielle’s ability to be a key player in the country’s economic transformation.”

For his part, Patricio Supervielle, President and CEO of Grupo Supervielle, commented: “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Alejandro (Stengel) for his significant and successful contribution as CEO of the Bank in these 4 years that has allowed us to transform our operating model and advance in building the bank of the future.”
