During the day, practical demonstrations of CPR maneuvers were offered, in which attendees were able to actively participate, learning to react to emergency situations. “On World Heart Day we are organizing an activity in the waiting room to teach children and their parents how to do CPR. If one day they find themselves in an emergency situation, then they will be able to have the tools to act accordingly” , highlighted Dr. Pablo Neira, director of the Dr. Ricardo Gutiérrez General Children’s Hospital.

The event also included a space for questions, where attendees could ask questions about their own care and treatments. “Cardiovascular disease is the largest cause of death worldwide. That is why we consider it very important, not only to instruct in the maneuvers, but to raise awareness about the care of the heart and arteries through cardiovascular prevention,” said the Dr. Angela Sardella, Division Chief of the Cardiology area.

For its part, Andrea Millan, CPR instructor, concluded: “It is very important to be able to learn to save lives using only your hands. Any of us can do it when we are faced with an emergency cardiovascular event; It is essential that we are able to act immediately.

The day ended with the delivery of information brochures and recommendations on healthy habits to maintain a healthy heart, with the hope that each participant becomes a multiplier of these preventive actions in their environment.
