Nuclear Power Argentina informs that the scheduled inspection and maintenance stop of the Córdoba Reservoir Nuclear Power Plant.
In this way, the Córdoba plant resumed its operation, once again guaranteeing the supply of safe and efficient electrical energy for millions of Argentines.
The scheduled stoppage, which began last August 2, allowed the realization of more than 4,000 inspection tasks and preventive and corrective maintenance.

During this process, approximately 1,800 workersbetween Nucleoelectrica personnel and specialized contractors.

How much energy does the Embalse Nuclear Power Plant provide?
With an installed power of 656 MWe, the Reservoir Nuclear Power Plant It is the second nuclear plant built in Argentina. Since the beginning of its commercial operation in 1984, it has been a fundamental pillar in the country’s energy generation.
In 2019, after a life extension process, it began its second operating cycle for 30 more years, consolidating its key role in the national energy matrix.

About Atucha I, Nuclear Power announced that necessary funds have been secured to carry forward the life extension projecta strategic milestone for the nuclear development of Argentina. The total cost of the renovation project amounts to $670 million.
The announcement was made by the new president of the company, Alberto Lamagnawho confirmed that the maintenance stoppage of the plant that began on September 29, the day it ended its first operating cycle after 50 years of energy generation.

Atucha I, like any industrial installation, has a design useful life that marks the period during which its components and equipment can operate safely and efficiently. Once this cycle has been completed, a stop life extensionwhich will last 30 months and will allow the maintenance, inspections and improvements necessary for the plant to operate safely for a new cycle.
The Atucha I Nuclear Power Plant is the first nuclear plant in Latin Americalocated in the town of Lima, province of Buenos Aires. Inaugurated in 1974, it has a PHWR (Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor) type reactor and an installed power of 362 MW.
During its 50 years of operation, it has generated power reliablycontributing significantly to the national electrical system. With the life extension, Atucha I will continue playing a key role in the contribution of nuclear energy to the generation of energy for millions of Argentines
