A Bosch manager quits to have more time for her parents. Those around her thank her for her initiative: In many companies, parental care is not an issue, unlike childcare.
Ms. Schneevoigt, you resigned from your manager position at Bosch in order to have more time to look after your parents and in-laws. Were you surprised at how many reactions you got to this move?
Yes, it has. At that time I lived completely in the economic and management bubble. I had heard of caring relatives, but I didn’t realize that the topic had such a structural and social dimension. I made the decision to quit for myself. I never imagined that so many different people would suddenly appear who were grateful that someone was speaking openly about caring for their own parents.
