María Eugenia Vidal and three governors will lead a meeting on Mining in San Juan

The meeting will take place this Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Three panels of experts will be held to discuss the potential of mining in Argentina, its sustainability, responsible practices and the economic development of the sector.

With the focus on Argentine mining activity and within the framework of the second regional meeting held by the Think Foundationits president, María Eugenia Vidal, will lead the opening of “Challenges and Opportunities of the Mining Industry in Argentina” along with the governors of San Juan, Marcelo Orrego; from Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejo, and from Jujuy, Carlos Sadir. The meeting will take place this Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hotel Viñas del Sol, province of San Juan.

During the event, which is sponsored by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, three panels of experts will be held to discuss the potential of mining in Argentina, its sustainability, responsible practices and the economic development of the sector.

In the first panel the General Manager of Los Azules, Michael Meding, will present; Barrick’s Government Relations Manager, Analía García; Josemaría’s Institutional Relations Manager, Ivan Grgic; and the former National Undersecretary of Nuclear Energy, Julián Gadano under the motto “Mining Industry in Argentina: A focus on development and innovation”, moderated by Ricardo Martínez, president of the Mining Chamber of San Juan.

“Mining Industry and Environment: Strategies for Conservation and Sustainable Development” is the title of the second block, where the associate director of Poliarquía, Ernesto Cussianovich, will present visions and experiences; the president of the Mendoza Chamber of Mining Entrepreneurs, Raúl Rodríguez; community relations specialist Mónica Echenique; the Associate Researcher of the CIPPEC Economic Development Program, Diego Moreno; and the former vice president of National Parks, Emiliano Ezcurra. The moderator will be the former National Senator, Gladys González.

The last panel “How the Mining Industry can contribute to the Development of other Economic Sectors and Boost Employment” It will be headed by Micaela Taboada Gil, member of the Board of Directors of the Industrial Union of San Juan and the CEO of Caterwest, Martín Ossa, will speak; the president of Provincial Energy Society of the State, Lucas Estrada; the president of the Industrial Union of San Juan, Ricardo Palacios; the President of the Chamber of Interdepartmental Mining Suppliers of San Juan (CAPRIMSA), Fernando Godoy; and the president of the Provincial Chamber of Mining Suppliers of Catamarca, Manuel Gómez Bello.

At the closing of the day, Itatí Avellaneda, President of the Pensar San Juan Foundation, will participate; Silvia Lospennato, Vice President of the Pensar Foundation; Susanne Käss, representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Argentina; and Francisco Quintana, General Secretary of the Pensar Foundation.

The meeting is part of the federal conferences carried out by the Pensar Foundation. The first was in the city of Paraná, Entre Ríos, and was attended by former president Mauricio Macri. In the Entre Ríos city, governors Rogelio Frigerio and Ignacio Torres, the vice governor of the province of Santa Fe, Gisela Scaglia, as well as legislators and prominent figures of the PRO met for two days, led by the new president of the yellow foundation, María Eugenia Vidal.
