The unemployment accelerated to 7.3% in CABA during the second quarter of 2024, compared to the 6.8% of the same period of 2023, as reported by the Institute of Statistics and Censuses of the City of Buenos Aires (IDECBA). In this way, unemployment reached about 122,500 porteñosof which 48.3% are women and another 51.7% are men.

Meanwhile, 7.2% of people want to work more hours, are looking for another occupation and are available. This implies that there are some 246,500 porteños (14.5%), who belong to the economically active population, are looking for a job because they do not have one or are looking to work more hours.

Of the total unemployed population, more than half (54.9%) declared having the level of educational certifications that correspond to a complete secondary level or incomplete higher level. In the last year, the unemployed population with complete university educational certifications increased 8.2 percentage points (pp), going from 14.8% to 23%.
