During his campaign, now President-elect Donald Trump promised reverse many of the policies enacted since he left office. Now that the presidential elections have declared him the winner, some issues are back on the agenda. The main ones are the immigration, health, drug trafficking, education, justice and gender.
Trump wants resume many of the priorities of his first term. He has said that he plans to finish building the wall between the United States and Mexico, expel undocumented immigrants, apply more tariffs on imports and increase American energy production.
Some of its measures involve retaliation against systems, institutions, and people you believe have harmed you. A second term could unleash the Department of Justice against their political enemies, purge the federal government of disloyal bureaucrats, and consolidate power in the executive branch.
What are the issues in which Donald Trump would intervene in his second term?
Immigration
Trump has made the Immigration and the border a central theme of his campaign. He pressured Republicans to reject a major bipartisan border deal earlier this year and in an opinion piece in the Des Moines Register“He promised that he will use the “Foreign Enemies Law”.
This rule includes to expel gang membersdrug traffickers or members of known or suspected cartels in the United States.
“We will transfer massive portions of federal law enforcement to immigration law enforcement, including parts of the DEA, ATF, FBI, and DHS,” he wrote. In a video on Truth Social in late February, Trump also promised “carry out the largest internal deportation operation in American history”.
However, for June Trump proposed giving green cards to foreign citizens graduating from American universities. These comments departed from his attempts to curb both legal and illegal immigration while in office.
drug cartels
He returned to similar promises from 2016 and 2020. The Republican also focused on “war” against drug cartels as another priority for his second term. If elected, he said he would ask Congress to ensure that Drug and human traffickers could receive the death penalty for their “atrocious acts”.
Trump also promised to crack down on the cartels through naval embargoes and by using special forces within the Department of Defense to harm the organizations’ leaders.
justice system
Trump promised to use the Department of Justice to attack his critics and former allies. In several videos and speeches, the former president outlined his plans to dismantle the current justice system by firing “radical Marxist prosecutors” “They are destroying the United States.”
He promised to go after Joe Bidenappointing “a true special prosecutor to pursue the most corrupt president in the history of the United States of America,” referring to the Democrat. “I will completely annihilate the deep state,” he concluded.
He promised to eliminate “dishonest” bureaucrats and would propose a constitutional amendment to limit the terms of office of members of Congress. He also promised to appoint “rock-solid” federal prosecutors and conservative judges to do what they need to do the judges’ way.

Trump also promised in a June 2023 campaign video reinstate his previous executive order so that the US government pays the same price for pharmaceuticals as other developed countries.
Trump said in April that I wouldn’t sign a federal abortion ban. and has taken the position that abortion laws should be decided by the states. He previously said he was “looking at it” when asked if he supported restrictions on contraceptives.
Education
In a September 2023 campaign video, Trump announced that he plans to close the Department of Education and send “all education and work and educational needs back to the states”. The former president promised “put parents back in charge and give them the final say” in educational matters.
Trump also said he would cut funding for schools that teach critical race theory and gender ideology.. In a later speech, he mentioned that he would restore the Commission 1776, which was launched during his previous Government to “teach our values and promote our history and traditions to our children”.
He also said he would remove “Marxists” from the Department of Education and promised to fund free online classes with funds confiscated from donations from private universities.

In Washington, during September 2023, Trump also announced the role of a task force to review the cases of people “unfairly persecuted by the Biden administration.” This would see pardons for many rioters of the January 6, 2021 insurrection.
Gender issues
“I will repeal all Biden policies that promote chemical castration and sexual mutilation of our young people,” he stated at the 2023 Conservative Political Action Conference last March. There he also asked Congress to send him “a bill that prohibits child sexual mutilation in all 50 states.”
Trump added in a campaign video that he would issue an executive order to instruct federal agencies to cut programs that promote gender transitions. This includes Congress prevent the use of federal funds to promote and pay for gender-affirming procedures.
