The Simpsons predicted the electoral map of Donald Trump’s victory

An episode of the classic animated comedy titled “Bart To The Future” showed Lisa Simpson running for president and winning.

The Simpsons predictions

It’s not the first time that this specific episode of The Simpsons has seemed to accurately depict future political events. The president Lisa was replacing was none other than Donald Trump, who would be elected for the first time in 2016.

Once elected, Lisa declared: “We have inherited a huge budget constraint from President Trump”.

“Bart To The Future” also has a scene of Lisa wearing a purple suit, pearl necklace and earrings, which fans realized was almost identical to what the current vice president and 2024 Democratic candidate was wearing, Kamala Harrisduring his inauguration with the president Joe Biden in 2021.

For years, fans have been paying attention to The Simpsons predictions. In 1993, an episode titled “Marge In Chains” saw Springfield hit by an outbreak of the “Osaka flu”, aggravated by the presence of killer bees. This reflects the Covid-19 global pandemic and the presence of deadly giant hornets during that period.

In the 2006 episode “Homer’s Paternity Coot”, Homer searches for jewels underwater in a submarine, before becoming trapped on a barrier reef and losing oxygen. The story was similar to OceanGate Titanic submersible case in 2023, which lost communication and imploded while descending.

In October, The Simpsons showrunner, Matt Selmananswered the question of how the show seems to be so good at predicting the future. He said, “Well, the sour answer I always give that no one likes is that If you study history and mathematics, it would be literally impossible for us not to predict things”.
