Located 42 kilometers from the city of Tandil on an area of 1,464 hectares, La Elbita stands out as the first large-scale wind farm in the region and the largest Genneia project in the province of Buenos Aires. Equipped with 36 state-of-the-art wind turbines measuring 120 meters high, the park has a production capacity designed to supply the demand of large industrial users within the framework of the Renewable Energy Term Market (MATER).
As explained by the company, The development of La Elbita was possible thanks to mixed financing that included both international and local funds. Internationally, Genneia was supported by FMO, the development bank of the Netherlands, and FinDev Canada, the Canadian development bank, which provided an $85 million, 10-year corporate loan. At the local level, investors participated through green bond issues.
The project will have a direct impact on the community since will generate 705,000 MWh of renewable energy per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 175,000 homes. In addition, it is estimated that it will prevent the emission of more than 370,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
