Fight against gambling: what the opinion of the Federal Coalition proposes

The first project, written based on a proposal by Maximiliano Ferraro, was also promoted by Union for the Homeland (UP), Federal Meeting and the radicals of “Democracy Forever”.

Among other points, the opposition initiative prohibits the advertising, promotion and sponsorship of online gambling of any kind, including those carried out by influencers, entertainment celebrities, athletes, sports institutions and posters in stadiums.

In this way, advertising will only be allowed inside casinos, bingo halls, racetracks and other betting houses or lottery agencies. Furthermore, the project only authorizes betting on online platforms that have a registered legal address in the country.

Another of the salient points of the project is that it limits the means of payment to the use of debit cards with a limit equivalent to that allowed for withdrawals at ATMs, so the use of credit systems and social assistance benefit cards. Wallets will be authorized but will have the same limits as with debit. In addition, the granting of bonuses or recruitment vouchers to welcome and encourage gambling is prohibited.

On the other hand, the initiative aims to prevent the access of minors to betting. To achieve this goal, it proposes the biometric identification of users at the beginning of each session and after a period of playing, using the database of the National Registry of Persons (RENAPER) to validate identity remotely, through recognition facial.

The project establishes sanctions of penalties and fines for non-compliance by the owners and third parties involved. The penalties could range from 3 to 10 years in prison.
