Overnight, Knaus Tabbert has to contend with a suspected case of corruption in top management. A sales crisis is also affecting the mobile home manufacturer.
The leisure vehicle manufacturer Knaus Tabbert has fired two of its current three board members without notice. The company, based in Jandelsbrunn, Lower Bavaria, said the two managers would no longer work for Knaus Tabbert AG with immediate effect. The reason is therefore the “criminal allegations” that have shaken Knaus Tabbert since the day before. The Landshut public prosecutor’s office had searched offices and business premises at the company’s headquarters with a large contingent of over 160 police officers on suspicion of corruption; two managers are in custody.

The two men are said to have collected bribes from suppliers and in return given them advantages when awarding contracts. Knaus Tabbert emphasized that the listed company itself was not accused of any wrongdoing, but that it was itself damaged. The amount of damage is therefore unknown. “We are committed to taking additional measures to prevent such events in the future, including improving internal processes and controls,” the statement said.

Even before the criminal allegations, there was personnel turbulence in the executive suite at Knaus Tabbert; just last week, major shareholder Wim de Pundert took on the dual role of CEO and CFO. The Dutchman is currently the only incumbent board member. According to the company, the tasks of the two dismissed board members will be temporarily taken over by their employees. Apart from that, Knaus Tabbert is struggling with a serious sales crisis, production at the company headquarters and in a Hungarian factory is currently at a standstill due to a lack of demand.
