The sector is one of the few that registers positive data in the accumulated data for 2024. However, its increase slowed for the second month in a row.
Fishing, one of the few sectors that registers positive numbers in 2024, registered its worst year-on-year drop in 18 months in October. Even so, there was an improvement compared to September.
According to data published by INDEC this Wednesday, The fishing Industrial Production Index (IPI) collapsed 43.5% versus October 2023the deepest negative variation since April of last year. In contrast, In monthly terms there was a rebound of 7.5% after two casualties in a row.
The annual contraction was generated by a 60% collapse in crustacean fishingthe seafood product that Argentina currently exports the most. On the contrary, the mollusks and fish division showed increases of 7.3% and 9.2%, respectively.

It is also worth noting that the Spring is the season with the lowest production fishery.
