Both took several photographs together and Lamelas used his social networks to express his admiration for the Argentine president. “The United States can learn from Milei’s bold action, leadership and unapologetic style”the doctor wrote.
But the praise and good initial rapport did not stop there as Lamelas added: “He is a leader who has the mission to free their country from decades of socialism and mismanagement. “Like President Trump, Milei understands that prosperity begins with a smaller, more efficient government.”
Finally, the future ambassador stressed that “that is why Trump created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and appointed Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk to lead it.”
After the meeting, on November 27, Lamelas once again praised the libertarian leader and compared him to Trump. “Milei brings the same conviction to change the status quo in Argentina that President Trump brings to the United States”
According to Lamelas, of Cuban origin, Milei is ““a man on a mission to free his country from decades of economic mismanagement, socialism and a progressive nanny state.” In this sense, the future ambassador also analyzed the current situation in Argentina: “Argentina was a prosperous Nation that allowed progressives and the great Government ‘to make the needs of each person become a right imposed by the Government.’ “Argentina nationalized companies and then experienced debt defaults and economic and political turmoil.”
In his observations, the doctor compared Argentina to the Cuban communist government and shared part of his personal story: “This reminds me of what my family and I witnessed firsthand in our country of origin. Born in Cuba, we lost everything fleeing communism for the shining city on the hill that is the United States.”
“Argentina has learned from what happened in Cuba. It’s no coincidence that Milei arrived in Palm Beach shortly after President Trump’s election victory. Milei considers himself the Trump of Argentina and his visit was an opportunity to build stronger ties between both lovers of freedom,” Lamelas concluded.
