More than US,000 million were declared between cash and assets

“The total assets declared reached US$32,151 millionof which US$22,165 million correspond to money in cash deposited in special bank accounts (CERA) or special client accounts of Liquidation and Clearing Agents (ALyC)”, ARCA reported.

The official statement details that “the remaining US$9,986 million exteriorized to date correspond to other assets, such as real estate, vehicles or corporate interests”.

In terms of cash, Javier Milei’s externalization plan was much more successful than the one launched by Mauricio Macri in 2016. At that time, just over US$100,000 million were declared, but in cash they were about US$7,000 million. That is to say, most of the assets of Argentines would already have been laundered from that moment.

However, if the amount of laundered dollars is compared against the estimate that there would be in the Argentine market, in which both official and private sources agree, laundering reached only 10%. There would be some US$200,000 million circulating outside the banking system.

The moratorium managed to recover some $2.37 billion

On the other hand, the information of ARCA indicates that “the moratorium made it possible to regularize tax, customs and social security resource obligations due as of March 31, 2024, as well as the infractions committed up to that date, whether or not related to said obligations”.

They subscribed approximately 341,000 payment plans for a total amount of $2.37 billion. Of that total, $290,000 million were paid through cash payments, while another $2.08 trillion entered through payment facility plans.

“It should be noted that the regime included different stages with benefits of forgiveness of compensatory and punitive interests, which varied depending on the payment method chosen and the date of accession. In total, more than $879,000 million were forgiven,” says the official information.

It should be remembered that on December 31, ARCA’s grace period expires in which it refrains from initiating lawsuits and seizures against taxpayers.
