The mining project is located approximately 150 kilometers northwest of the city of San Juan, in the Department of Calingasta. Casposo had productive activity from 2011 to 2019, extracting up to 1,600 tons of mineral per day. It was carried out under a combination between underground and open pit miningemploying 450 direct employees in its plant.
The government of San Juan celebrated the approval of the DIA
The process to obtain the DIA began in July 2023, from the delivery of the 5th Update by Casposo. Later, in November of the same year, the course continued with the presentation of the 6th Update.
In 2024, the San Juan government carried out a joint evaluation of the updates, resulting in 86 requirements that include the maintenance of existing infrastructure and the future reactivation of the process plant. With the approval, the project reactivates its operation in gold, highlighting the speed and rigor of the evaluation process.
Under this framework, the San Juan government highlighted the process that led to the approval of the DIA, which “reinforces San Juan’s position as a leader in responsible mining, generating employment and sustainable development opportunities for the region.”
