In 2017, the kitchen manufacturer Alno suffered a spectacular bankruptcy. Now the question before the Stuttgart Regional Court is whether everything was done fairly.
The insolvency of the kitchen manufacturer Alno once made national headlines. Now, from Monday, two former board members will have to answer to a white-collar criminal chamber at the Stuttgart regional court on suspicion of delaying insolvency and breach of trust. A third defendant is accused of aiding and abetting breach of trust.
The former traditional company Alno, based in Pfullendorf, Swabia, and its subsidiaries filed for bankruptcy in the summer of 2017. However, based on their investigations, the public prosecutor’s office assumes that the company had already been insolvent.
An investor then took over significant parts of Alno as part of the insolvency proceedings. Kitchen production then continued for a while. But this company also eventually went bankrupt.
The public prosecutor’s office originally charged nine people. The proceedings were now stopped at around six o’clock. The Economic Crimes Chamber has initially set dates for the trial against the three remaining defendants until the beginning of September.
The lawyer Martin Hörmann, appointed as insolvency administrator for Alno AG, said upon request that 1,268 creditors had asserted claims totaling 1.68 billion euros. Around 200 million euros were recognized as eligible. In the fourth quarter of 2024, an advance distribution was made to all creditors whose insolvency claims were included in the insolvency table, with this advance payment amounting to ten percent.
