The car sharing provider Miles cooperates with the mobility platform Bolt. In the future, the cars will also be able to be booked via the competitor’s channels in nine cities.

The vehicles from the car sharing provider Miles will in future also be bookable via the mobility platform of the competitor Bolt. Both companies announced a corresponding partnership at initially nine Miles locations, including Hamburg and Munich. Bolt in particular is expanding its foothold in the car sharing business.

So far, the company has only offered rental cars in the so-called free-float model in Berlin. The cars are located around the city regardless of their station and can be unlocked and used via an app. Bolt is better known for its ride-hailing services to rental car companies and its e-scooters.

Miles, in turn, has so far only been active in the car sharing business in a total of twelve German cities – also in the free-float model. According to its own information, the company has around 20,000 vehicles on offer.

Germany is the most important market in Europe for car sharing providers. At the beginning of 2024, according to data from the Federal Car Sharing Association, there were around 43,000 vehicles in this country. That was around a quarter more than the year before.
