The proportion of companies using artificial intelligence is increasing rapidly. But the differences between the federal states are sometimes very large.
There are huge differences between the individual federal states when it comes to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in business. While in Berlin 32 percent of all companies with ten or more employees use technologies such as machine learning, autonomous robots for warehouse automation or virtual assistants, in Brandenburg the figure is only nine percent, according to figures distributed by the Bavarian State Office for Statistics. Second and third places behind Berlin go to Hamburg and Bavaria with 26 and 23 percent respectively.
The figures are based on a survey from last year. The Federal Statistical Office had already reported on the nationwide results in November, which were based on feedback from around 18,000 companies. Nationwide, there was an increase in AI use from 12 to 20 percent within a year.
Among companies with at least ten employees, almost one in four (23%) employs their own specialists for information technology (IT). The highest proportions can again be found in Berlin and Hamburg with 29 percent each. The lowest in Saxony-Anhalt at 14 percent.
