Until the Bundestag election, the collective bargaining between the railway and the EVG union should be completed – at best without industrial action. Both sides press the pace.
In the collective bargaining dispute at Deutsche Bahn, both sides penetrate a quick end before the Bundestag election – at best without warning strikes. At the first tariff round on Tuesday, the employer side has already brought an offer. “With this we want to set a clear signal for a quick solution,” said HR board Martin Seiler in Frankfurt, without naming details.
The employees need planning security. He sees good prerequisites for the negotiations because both sides wanted to come to a quick degree. “We will be happy to make our contribution.” By the end of March, passengers will not face warning strikes on the train anyway.
EVG negotiator Cosima Inschay also emphasized that the union was ready for “quick and constructive negotiations”. The employees needed clarity in economically difficult times. A possible strike from April is only “the last remedy”.
With a demand of 7.6 percent, the union goes into negotiations with the troublesome group, among other things. Shifts are also said to have an additional money of 2.6 percent, which is said to be convertible in part in free days.
Deutsche Bahn and EVG: further rounds of negotiations scheduled
There should also be a bonus payment of 500 euros for EVG members. And: All employees should definitely keep their job until the end of 2027. The term of the collective agreement leaves the EVG open. Negotiations are being made for around 192,000 employees, for whom the EVG collective agreements apply.
The current collective agreement – and the associated peace obligation – applies until the end of March. Because of the uncertainty that a new federal government could bring for the train, the EVG asked for previous negotiations. Because the Union, which the next government could lead, has long been calling for the rail to be destroyed. The railway is mainly due to the ongoing renovation of the group. Further rounds of negotiations will be scheduled for the next two weeks.
