Verdi strives DHL package steering

The waiting time for packages is likely to extend a little in some places in Germany: a industrial action with the logistician DHL has consequences for delivery.

In the tariff conflict at Deutsche Post, the Verdi union relies on warning strikes for the third day in a row. As the union announced, employees are called up in selected parcel centers for work, for example in Cologne, Krefeld and Herford (NRW) and in Lahr (Baden-Württemberg) on Thursday.

In contrast to the two previous warning strike days, the delivery is not concerned. Delays will occur at the strict locations in the delivery of packages, according to Verdi.

Verdi calls for a wage plus of seven percent and extra vacation days for the employees in order to take into account inflation and the increasing workload. The company rejects the claims as economically not sustainable. It refers to the shrinking letter in the digital age and the high investment needs. The negotiations should continue on February 12th.

Deutsche Post is part of the Bonn logistics group DHL, and post has around 170,000 tariff employees in Germany. According to Verdi, a total of around 13,000 DHL employees laid down the work on the first two warning strike days, an estimated four million letters and a high six-digit number of packages therefore remained for the time being.
