The collective bargaining at the post office will continue soon. Verdi wants to increase the pressure beforehand – some of the letter comes late. How does that affect the Bundestag letter selection?
The warning strikes at Deutsche Post gain sharpness. After Verdi had called for work in the delivery for Thursday, the Bonn logistician announced that about ten percent of the letter shipments had remained nationwide due to the strike. They should be delivered in the next few days.
It has been the sixth warning strike day since last week. On the previous exit days, the company reported that only a low single-digit percentage of the shipments was affected. This is about the nationwide cut. However, not all locations are strike – where employees have resigned, the proportion of leftover shipments was significantly higher.
In addition to letter delivery, it is also about parcel delivery. The post continues to see the mail in the low single -digit percentage range.
Priority for election programs
According to the post office and the union, around 6,500 deliverers followed the strike call call on Thursday. Nationwide, post has 115,500 employees in this segment. It was only strike at some of the delivery base, these were crossed across the country.
Do the warning strikes have negative consequences for the Bundestag letter election? Election programs are treated with priority, says a post spokeswoman. “We are trying to keep delays for voters and customers as low as possible.”
Verdi insists on more money and more vacation
In the collective bargaining conflict, Verdi calls for a fee increase of seven percent and three extra vacation days so that employees can recover from the increased workload. Verdi members should even get four additional vacation days.
Swiss Post does not consider the claims to be economically presented. Management refers to the high investment requirement and the falling mail quantities in the digital age, which gives the company less money into the cash register. According to the representations of the Bonn logistics DHL, to which Deutsche Post belongs, the scope for wage increases is very low. The collective bargaining will continue next Wednesday (January 12).
