Employer president for more 40-hour weeks
Germany should be more productive, says employer president Dulger. He has a clear idea of how this could work.
Employer president Rainer Dulger pleads for a longer weekly working hours. “It would be good if we move again with more employees in the direction of 40 hours,” he told the German Press Agency in Berlin. According to the Federal Statistical Office, the weekly working time was 34.3 hours.
“If we are pleased that we currently have 46 million employees, then we also have to talk about the fact that they do not work much more than the Germans about 20 years ago,” said Dulger. At that time there were fewer employees and residents.
Dulger: Germany needs more efficiency
“The success of an economy is still measuring her output. And if we have managed to get more than 20 years ago with more employees, then we didn’t skill much,” said Dulger. Germany needs an increase in efficiency. “Germany also needs more all -day schools and daycare centers – then the well -trained people with young children who want to work more can also work more.”
There must be incentives for overtime. “Work has to be worth it again, and there has to be more net of gross again.”
