Every year the federal government adapts the amount of pensions. There is usually an increase. There is a recommendation for this year.
April is usually an important month for pensioners. Then it is determined how high the annual pension adjustment is – according to the cabinet decision by regulation from the Federal Ministry of Labor. The Federal Council must then agree to this regulation. The decision will then be effective from July 1st. It is not entirely certain whether this will also work this year. In April, the current federal government will only be in office, a new government that will be elected on February 23 may not yet be sworn in.
More pension? 3.5 percent plus recommended
After all: There is already a recommendation for pension adjustment 2025. The Federal Government had calculated an increase in pensions by 3.5 percent in early December 2024. That would be noticeably less than in the past three years, but it would be well above the average of around two percent in the past 25 years, in which there were even four zero rounds. The following table shows how the recommendation in euros and cent would affect the pensions.
pension (monthly in euros) |
Pension from July 1st (according to the recommendation) |
Increase (3.5 percent) |
1100 | 1138.50 | 38.50 |
1200 | 1242.00 | 42.00 |
1300 | 1345.50 | 45.50 |
1400 | 1449.00 | 49.00 |
1500 | 1552.50 | 52.50 |
1600 | 1656.00 | 56.00 |
1700 | 1759.50 | 59.50 |
1800 | 1863.00 | 63.00 |
1900 | 1966.50 | 66.50 |
The fact that these values become so reality is currently not set in stone. When asked by the star A spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Labor said: “This year it is planned that the pension value provision regulation 2025 will be dealt with by the Federal Cabinet in April and in June in the Federal Council’s plenary meeting.”
It can be considered likely that pensions will occur. Because if a new federal government had been determined in April, it should hardly be interested in consolidating retailers directly to the start.
